World Book Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Jubilee Hills Public School, Hyderabad on 23rd April 2025, to highlight the importance of reading and encourage students to develop a regular habit of reading books. The event was marked by a series of engaging activities conducted for students of Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary, aimed at promoting the value of books in shaping minds and enriching knowledge. This day highlighted the value of turning reading into a meaningful and enjoyable part of their lives with joy and excitement.
The aim of this event was to enhance the language, creative abilities and to inspire young minds of the students. The following were the series of engaging and thoughtful activities conducted for the classes from Nursery to X to spark interest in reading, boost literacy through creative skills and enhance vocabulary.
- Students from Nursery, LKG & UKG dressed up in their favourite character of the story.
- Classes 1 and 2 dressed in their fascinating storybook characters and enthusiastically spoke a few lines as the characters, expressing their excitement and admiration.
- Meanwhile, students from Classes 3 to 5 participated in a Bookswap activity, to encourage love for reading, sharing and exchanging their cherished books with friends to spread the bliss of reading.
- Students of Secondary presented a slideshow on the significance of books and reading habits, showcasing how books can be powerful tools for gaining knowledge and enhancing imagination.
- Selected students delivered speeches emphasizing the role of books in shaping personalities and improving creativity.
- Additionally, students were encouraged to present book reviews of their favourite books, allowing them to reflect on their reading experiences and share recommendations with peers.
- A quiz competition was also conducted based on popular books and authors that added excitement.
The celebration not only deepened students’ appreciation for books but also motivated them to develop regular reading habits. The event concluded on a reflective note, reinforcing the message that books are not just sources of knowledge but lifelong companions in the journey of learning. Overall, the World Book Day was a meaningful experience that successfully reignited a passion for reading among the students.
